What

Blogging

I blog here two or three times a week and I live blog events like the Brisbane Festival and the TippingPoint conference.

Short fiction

Dragon Dust was published by Vignette Press as part of its Mini Shot series. According to 3000books, Dragon Dust is

…an elegantly written fantasy story. Velvet is a busy, lively, loving mother with four children, a husband and a crotchety mother-in-law. Her everyday life in a country town is so beautifully and gently described by Jansen that the foreshadowing of the town’s problems with an old enemy is really able to build up to an affecting end.

I’ll take that.

Awakening is a teeny flash fiction piece and was also published by Vignette Press, this time in their Sex Mook. (A mook is a hybrid of a book and a magazine.)

I’m working on a few other things at the moment, as mentioned here.

Book project

I’m writing about the French-Canadian quarter of my family history. I’m working on a novelised account of my great-great-grandmother Alphonsine and a biography of my Grandma Madeleine who told me about her. Every now and then I post an update about this project.

Business

The closest thing I have to a day job is my freelance work for businesses, governments and arts projects doing writing and editing, marketing and communications, and social media marketing and community building. See my other website for more info.
