Another call to action about a cool thing I love

Posted on 14 September 2011

My favourite writers’ festival, the Emerging Writers’ Festival, is after your donations to do a cool new thing — a mini-conference for  the next round of writers who will remind the world how awesome Australia is, giving them ideas and inspiration about using the internet for the powers of good.

The conference is to be held in my hometown of Brisbane at my old workplace The Edge in partnership with if:book Australia. EWF is running a funding campaign for the next few days on Pozible. Go here to watch the cool video and donate anything from $1 upwards. If you want more info on how awesome EWF is, check out my previous odes to it.

Tidbits from the media release:

Lisa Dempster, Director of the Emerging Writers’ Festival said, “Writing is no longer about typing out a manuscript. Today’s writers need to be entrepreneurial in creating markets for their work. Pozible is a great platform that assists writers to conceptualise, fund and run their own writing projects.”

Rick Chen, Founder of Pozible said, “Working with such a respected event as The Emerging Writers Festival is such an important step for Pozible. Part of Pozible’s aim is to empower creative practitioners of all kinds to have their work shown, nurtured and appreciated both online and in real terms and to help such a talented group of people with such a supportive event is both an honour and fantastic demonstration of how arts groups can work together to benefit creative practitioners. We are thrilled to be involved!”

I’ve already donated. Off you go.
